A journey from Kayaking to Tech
Thomas shifted his focus from sports to technology after moving to the United States seven years ago. His professional background includes early involvement with Voxeet, a company that was later acquired by Dolby Laboratories, a period as Head of Growth at the SaaStr tech conference in San Francisco, and a four-year tenure at Red Bull.
During his time in sports, Thomas competed in kayaking for over ten years, achieving two French titles and participating in a world championship final at the age of 18. His experiences in sports, particularly the team-building aspects he observed at Red Bull, influenced his entrepreneurial path. At Red Bull, he noticed the company's efforts in creating bonding experiences for its workforce, such as skiing trips and organizing group activities.
These insights led Thomas to co-found TeamOut with Vincent Albouy, a college friend and software engineer. TeamOut is a platform designed to facilitate the planning of team gatherings, aiming to make the process as simple as booking a ride. The company's objective is to establish a comprehensive network of vendors and technologies to support event planning. Recognized by YCombinator in 2022, TeamOut has been growing since its inception in 2021, focusing on enhancing team cohesion through easy-to-organize, enjoyable corporate events.
